A new computer virus in your email inbox attempts to scam you into clicking a link. The scary part is the scam email looks almost authentic coming from USPS. When the USPS virus showed up in my inbox I nearly clicked the link myself thinking it was an important shipping label. Good thing I used my Linux computer to click it anyway, curious to see where the link takes me. If you’ve already clicked the link and have installed the virus, you will need to contact us for computer virus removal.
If you’re wondering, the USPS computer virus runs a file that downloads immediately to your computer and up come the scam virus alerts. Luckily for me, my Linux operating system wasn’t affected by the Windows virus and I simply deleted the file.
Scam USPS Computer Virus In Your Inbox
The image above shows an exact copy of the scam email and what to look out for. People that have clicked the link, immediately were infected with a computer virus and malware. Most running and updated anti-virus programs catch the virus and will quarantine the infection but those of you that clicked the link need to understand why your computer has become infected with a virus.
Why Did Your Computer Get A Virus?
It’s difficult to say if and why your computer became infected to begin with. If you’ve installed an anti-virus program be sure it is monitored and kept updated. At ITC, we offer a product called Infinity MAV that we can install, manage, and monitor for you all through the internet. Our product cost less than most popular brands and in my opinion, is a lot more effective.
Whatever anti-virus program you’re running be sure it is kept up-to-date with the latest virus definitions. Right-click the icon if it’s running at the bottom right of your screen and check for an update option. Run the updates, and restart your computer. Do this periodically if your anti-virus software is not auto-updating. Another thing to consider is the level of protection that you currently have. Is the anti-virus you have adequate enough to combat viruses and malware? Check out reviews online to see what others are saying. Personally, if you don’t want to try out our anti-virus software; Infinity MAV, then my next best choice would be Trend Micro. Of course, every IT professional will have their own different opinion but mine comes with years of experience testing several anti-virus programs.
