For business owners, Quickbooks is a necessity. This piece of accounting software is one of the most common used in business. It is a handy, all-inclusive tool that lets you manage your business from one location. Sometimes though, it decides it doesn’t want to do its job. Quickbooks issues are so common, sometimes they seem to be a feature of the program itself. Luckily, the ITC team has written a troubleshooting guide for H-Errors to help you get back on your feet. If you’re facing a connection error, check out our previous post, 6 Things to Try When Quickbooks Won’t Connect.
Experiencing H101, H102, H103, or H105 errors when using Quickbooks means your connection is being interrupted. Follow the steps in our troubleshooting guise below to diagnose the issue you are having.
How to Fix Quickbooks’ Errors
Errors H101, H103, and H105 occur when you’re attempting to access a file on another computer. The other computer containing the file may need more setup or installation. To fix this issue, follow these three steps.
- Make Sure No Workstations are Trying to Host the File
In the top menu bar, choose File > Utilities. If you see an option in that list saying “Host Multi-User Access,” move onto the next workstation. If you see “Stop Hosting Multi-User Access”, choose that option. From here, just follow the on-screen instructions. - Make Sure The Server is Running the Right Services
The server also needs to be running certain Quickbooks services for users to connect. Click the Start menu and choose “Run…” in the bottom right corner of the Start menu. Type in “services.msc” and press Enter. Scroll down the list until you find a service called “QuickBooksDB25”. Then confirm that its status is “Running.” If it is not running, right click on the service and choose “Start” or “Restart.” Do the same check for the “QBCFMonitorService” service. - Try running the Quickbooks File Doctor
You can access it through the top menu bar by choosing “File”. From the File menu, choose “Utilities”, then “Repair File and Network Problems”. Browse to the company file with which you’re experiencing issues. Select the “Check both file damage and network connectivity” option, then click “Next”. Quickbooks will run several checks on the file and network configurations. If it doesn’t repair the problems for you, it will list instructions on performing the fix.
How to Fix an H102 Error
If you received the H202 message, your troubles lie within your own computer. This error message displays when your own copy of Quickbooks can’t reach the server that the file is on. The way to fix this is to use the File Doctor.
If you follow these steps, your software should straighten out. If it’s still giving you trouble, give ITC a call. We can help you whip Quickbooks into shape so you can focus on your business.
